Creating your own Collaborative World!

Learn how you can make your own collab World!

Updated over 2 months ago

Want to share a World between you and some friends? Perhaps create a community event? Let us tell you a bit more on how you can do that!

Right now, UnVale doesn't have the function where others can edit or co-own a World. But, that doesn't mean you still can't work together sharing ideas, making creations, and roleplaying!

1. Figuring out what the World is about!

Like any World, there needs to be a bit of story building/lore. Giving folks an idea of what sort of World they might be making OCs for is a great start to making a successful collab World.

Some things to consider while creating the foundations of this new World could be:

  • Where is the world located?

  • Does the world have some pieces of reality or is it entirely fictional?

  • What are the species that exist in this world?

  • What do people typical do in this world?

  • Is there an end goal or is it completely open?

There's so much you could explore while creating this collaborative world. Get really creative and be open to what changes may come as you work together with others to really flesh out the many stories that may come from it.

2. Creating rules on how to participate

A good set of rules will let folks know the do's and don'ts of how your World works. There are a few ways of sharing the rules of your collab world:

  • Creating an OC page that shows visual examples of what can and can't be done

  • Making a written guide

  • Putting it in the comments of your World

Of course there are many other ways to go about this, but these are a few suggestions!

When creating your rules, be sure to also review UnVale's Community and Creation Guidelines to make sure all of your rules align with our own.

3. Creating the name of the World

Like any book, show, and game, your World needs a name to! Picking names can be pretty tricky, but here are a few tips when thinking of how to name a World

  • Keep it related to the event

  • Make it stand out/memorable (try to be different!)

  • Try to limit it to five words or less

4. Creating a hashtag!

You're going to want to find a way to easily see all the people engaging with your collaborative World. A good way to do that is by creating a hashtag or two that people can use on their OC pages!

You'll want your hashtag to be related to your Collaborative World in some way, it could even be just the literal title of the World!

When creating a hashtag here are something to keep note of:

  • Keep it short

  • Try not to use emojis/emoticons

  • Might make it hard for others to use the tag

  • Keep it relevant to the World

5. Announce your Collab World!

Let people know what you're working on and even reach out to others inviting them to come and participate. If you decide to make an announcement post you'll want to include some of these things:

  • What the theme of your World is

  • The lore behind your World

  • Explaining the rules of how your World works

  • What hashtag folks should use to participate

This is a great way to connect with fellow community members, make cool art together, and build a really cool World together.

6. Chance to get featured by UnVale!

We love seeing community made events/collab worlds and want to do our best supporting and uplifting them.

If you create a collaborative world on UnVale and would like a highlight from the team, contact us! We'd love to share it and bring more attention to it!

Great examples of other Collaborative Worlds can be found here!

Community-Made Guide

You can also learn about how to make your own collaborative World from UnVale Community member Zero, who created their own guide explaining how they make collaborative worlds!

Please note that unless an OC page is officially traded to you, you do not have ownership of others OCs created for your collaborative World.
