Creation Guidelines

A detailed overview of the creations we do/don't allow on Unvale!

Listed below are our current rules on what is and is not permitted on the Unvale platform. Can't find what you need further clarification on here? Contact us!

Please keep in mind that our Creation Guidelines apply to all uploads on Unvale, even Writing & Posts!

With the addition of the new filtering system some previously disallowed categories are now available as filters!

  • As a note, don't be afraid to 'over-filter' for your fellow user's comfort.

  • A moderator’s discretion will still take priority, so be sure to listen to staff!

Strong Language and Illegal Activities

  • Excessive cursing

    • (Note: Excessive cursing is considered to be using swear words frequently/repeatedly that would be deemed socially inappropriate. Cursing here and there is fine.)

Examples of what would be considered OK and not OK. Please be advised that this will go into explicit detail. The following are not set and may be adjusted to a member of staff’s discretion.

Acceptable

"Ah, shit well that sucks."

"Why the fuck would you say some dumb shit like that?"

Note how there are 2+ curse words in this sentence.

  • Encouragement or conducting of illegal activities

    • (Note: You can find out more about what would be considered illegal activities within our Community Guidelines.)

    • The conducting of illegal activities only applies to real-life, as long as you're following the rest of our guidelines it's fine to include for OCs/stories.

  • The use of hard drugs

    • (Note: Marijuana use is allowed as long as the OC is 18 or older)

  • This category may also cover images involving:

    • Erotic scenes

      • (Note: These are handled on a case-by-case basis. We understand that some things may be perceived as a kink, but may not actually be the case.)

    • Revealing clothing paired with Sexual poses

    • Nudity (Doll-like nudity such as a Barbie/Ken doll is a-okay on Unvale!)

    • Nipples regardless of gender

      • Character may use nipple coverings such as pasties, silly censors, and more!

    • (Note: We here at Unvale know that nipples are not inherently sexual, but in the interest of inclusivity, we do not allow them to be displayed on any character.)

    • OCs that link back to sexually related media

      • While we understand that the character itself may not be sexual, if it is fan art or a fan-created character made to fit in a world where the primary focus is a sexual nature it cannot be shared on Unvale.

Types of Suggestive content allowed on Unvale:

  • Nudity that censors sensitive areas (A great example is if a the character is nude, but is like a Barbie/Ken doll where sensitive areas are blank.)

  • Revealing clothing i.e swimwear/undergarments (As long as it is in a non-sexual manner and all sensitive areas are covered)

Allowed with Filter applied:

  • Suggestive themes
(Note: PG-13 is fine to upload, explicit is not! If you're unsure please reach out to our support desk.)

Please also keep in mind that big-breasted characters are not a breach of our guidelines. As long as they are covered and are within guidelines we will not take any actions against characters that are more top-heavy.

Medically Dangerous Content

Bright clashing colors, fake 3D effects and flashy gifs can be uploaded with the Eyestrain filter applied.

  • GIFs that are excessively fast or flashy, may trigger users with photosensitivity.

The following is prohibited:

  • Spreading health misinformation

    • (Note: If speaking about any realistic health-related issues, please be sure you are fact-checking and providing legitimate sources where you can!)

Phobias

Thanks to our new filter system, realistic or extreme depictions of the following phobias can now be hidden:

  • Arachnophobia (Fear of arachnids/spiders)

  • Trypanophobia (Fear of needles)

  • Trypophobia (Fear of clustered holes)

This is generally up to user discretion, we'd advise putting a note of what phobia is present in the title of the image! Horror pieces handling common phobias would also fall under the "Phobias" filter.

Spoilers

The spoiler filter is used for the following:

  • Spoilers for media under 1 month old

You could also use this for spoilers for a D&D Campaign, your book, game etc. But this is optional!

Other

The "other" filter can be used for commonly triggering topics if no other filters fit. We'd highly recommend putting a note in the title for this one!

Culturally Sensitive Content

  • This primarily focuses on people/entities/creatures that are known to be harmful in certain communities. This includes and is not limited to:

    • Entities related to Native Tribes such as:

      • W/ndigos

      • Sk/nwalkers

    • Insensitive Caricature

      • This means representing a culture/community with stereotypes, distortion, dehumanization, and an overall negative portrayal.

When going about creating OCs based around a culture that is not your own, please be sure to do proper research and potentially get feedback before sharing on our platform.

Picrews or other Dollmakers without proper crediting

  • We allow the use of Picrews, Dollmakers, or in-game character customizers to represent your OCs! However, you must be have proper crediting either on the image or somewhere within the character description. Learn more with the guideline below.

Art Bases

Many artists use bases as a starting point when creating art! But did you know there's a correct way to use them? Especially while on Unvale?

  • If you are using a pay-to-use base you must state that you've paid for it, along with crediting the creator of the base.

  • If you found the base online but did not pay for it, be sure to check and make sure if it's a pay-to-use base or if it was free.

    • If it is a pay-to-use base and you did not pay, please do not use it.

    • If it's free you must still credit the creator of the base.

When posting bases, please only post the base if it is a base you've created or a base you've been given explicit permission to post. Posting bases that do not belong to you is considered art theft which is not allowed on Unvale.

Face Claims

  • We understand that many folks use face claims to help better show off what their characters look like, especially for our writers and role-players! This is allowed on Unvale under specific conditions:

    • Must be a known celebrity/famous individual or model

      • If you cannot credit who the person is the image will be taken down.

    • The face claim cannot be of yourself, family, or personal friends. That goes against our Community Guidelines and would be considered selfies.

Cosplay

  • Just like Face Claims we know that people also like to creatively express themselves and their OCs with fashion, specifically cosplay! This is allowed on Unvale under specific conditions:

    • The model of the cosplay must be fully in clear cosplay gear.

      • This means no basic clothing such as everyday plain shirts, pants, shoes, and faces.

        • We understand that some characters may be dressed plainly, but for the sake of user protection we will not allow them at this time.

      • This does mean wearing elaborate clothing such as steampunk, medieval wear, or other fantasy/futuristic types of clothing.

This is not a comprehensive list; please use your best judgment and be considerate of the people around you when creating or displaying content!
