Uploading Art You Didn't Draw Yourself

Long story short; Yes!

You are allowed to upload the work of others that was intentionally made or commissioned of your characters, as long as you properly give credit and have permission to repost to other platforms. You can tag the original creator in your Unvale Profile, if they have an account on this site, or leave a link on the page to where others can find them.

You can also upload OCs that you made using other platforms, with credit.

Some very popular ones are

    • Here you'll find hundreds of different customizable online doll makers by hundreds of different creators.

    • When using a picrew you must leave a link or credit the artist by name when uploading to Unvale.

      • If the artist's name is present in the image that is acceptable crediting! If not, you must present a link to the picrew.

    • When using Gacha Life you must state that you've used the app to create the OC. Leaving a simple "made in GC" or "created in Gacha Life" is more than enough for credits!

Other places where you can create customizable characters

  • Sims

  • Final Fantasy Online

  • Monster Hunter

  • Hero Forge

  • Elden Ring

  • Splatoon

  • Animal Crossing

  • Miitopia/Miis from Nintendo

  • And more!

Please keep in mind that all of these will still have to be credited by naming the game/app used to create the OC! Failure to properly credit can have you post be made private or removed from our platform.

There are other types of media you can upload as well on to Unvale!

  • Fan edits of well known officially licensed media/characters (shows, movies, comics, etc)

    • The edit cannot contain any fan art made by other creators and credits to the original media MUST be listed.

  • GIFs/Reaction Images

  • Fan character edits

    • Credits to the original media MUST be listed.

  • Stock Photos

    • Please be sure to get accurate crediting for stock photos! Google and/or Pinterest are not appropriate sources of crediting.

Please note that we do not allow the selling of characters made on other platforms. This is considered theft and goes against most creators terms of service and is not something we endorse doing on Unvale.

Without the proper credit you risk the work being archived which cannot be reversed. So remember to always give the credit where it's due!

Now that you know about what you can do, let's talk about some things that you cannot post that you did not make.

Things to not post on Unvale

  • Claiming officially licensed media/characters (shows, movies, comics, etc) as your own.

    • If looking for a filler image try one of our suggestions above!

  • Various pieces found on Pinterest or any other platform.

    • We understand that some work may be used for inspiration or posing references, but we also understand that many images found on these types of platforms tend to be reposted without proper sources/credits. Mood boards that follow our Content Guidelines are handled case by case.

  • Traced art from other artists

    • We understand that tracing in itself is a form of practice and learning! But, if the work is traced from other independent artists who did not give their explicit permission for tracing their creations it is considered theft/plagiarism.

    • However! If you are practicing from officially licensed media (well known shows/games) we will permit that with the inclusion of crediting and fully stating that it was traced.

Please remember that we do NOT allow any generated AI works. AI art is completely prohibited on the Unvale site and in our community.
