You'll be able to have your character pop up in that specific tag's Explore!
You're able to put tags on:
OC pages
Images
Writing
However, at this time the only way your OC page will appear in a specific tag's Explore is if the hashtag is on the OC page. Tags on Images and Writing will not show up on the Explore page.
Tags are used for a variety of things such as
Events
Fandoms
Giveaways/Raffles
Roleplaying
Commissions
And more!
