Yes! If you credit the media that the fanart is from, and it's original art that you have permission to post, then absolutely. This includes canon and AU characters.
In the description of your character please include the media that you're referencing by either the media name or the creator.
Note: Some creators specify that their characters are not to be replicated or AUs to be created of them, and that boundary is to be respected.
