Understanding spoiler tags and how to apply them

What is a spoiler?

The spoiler tag will put a glossy filter over the image or text, preventing users from seeing it.

It is used to hide potentially sensitive content until a user agrees to view it. This can be used to hide the ending of a show, or to prevent users from being exposed to content with a common phobia–like spiders!

After they see what category of sensitive content is within the spoiler, they can agree to view it by clicking on the modal.

Consider what other users may not want to see on your characters, posts, and images, and you can apply the spoiler and add a tag.

What can you apply a spoiler to on Unvale?

Users can apply a spoiler to anything sensitive, too bright, or would otherwise cause discomfort to other users.

The categories we have include:

  • Spoiler

  • Eyestrain

  • Violence

  • Death

  • Phobias

  • Suggestive

  • Other

How to Spoiler content?

When creating a post, you will see an eye with the words "Sensetive" below the post option. If you click this, you can apply one of the tags to your post.

When saving creations, you can do something similar. When saving a Character or World, you can click the toggle for "suggestive content" and it will provide you the tags to properly categorize the spoiler for viewing.

What do users experience?

When a user views content that has a spoiler, they will see a message indicating there is "Sensitive Content" and the image and text will have a blur filter covering it.

Users can then decide to click the message, and will be prompted with the spoiler tag and can agree to view the content or go back to the previous page.

We hope this makes browsing Unvale a safer and more pleasant experience for all!
